The World Cement Association (WCA) announced today that it is welcoming one of Algeria’s leading cement producers, Spa Biskria Ciment, as its newest Corporate Member.
Spa Biskria Ciment was founded in 2009 and is a key player in the Algerian construction materials industry, with three integrated production lines and 5 million tpa cement capacity. The cement plant is strategically located 18 km northeast of the capital of the Wilaya of Biskra.
The company has contributed to the economic and infrastructure development of Algeria. The company also strives to adopt sustainable practices in its operations to minimise its impact on the environment.
“We are delighted to welcome Spa Biskria Ciment to our global network. Their commitment to quality and sustainability aligns with our mission to promote best practices within the cement industry. We look forward to their active participation in our committees, member forums and our various other personalised member offerings,” says Ian Riley, CEO of WCA.
Since the early 2000s, Algeria has seen substantial growth in its construction sector, driving demand for innovative construction materials and building solutions. With robust infrastructure and a strategic location, the company is well placed to meet the growing demands of the construction sector in Algeria and the wider Mediterranean region.
At the beginning of 2023, Spa Biskria Ciment launched the production of white cement through the conversion of its first grey line to white, giving a capacity of 750,000 tpa of white cement.
“Spa Biskria Ciment’s membership in WCA underlines its commitment to industry excellence and sustainable development. As a member, Spa Biskria Ciment will benefit from WCA’s resources, including access to industry information, networking opportunities and a platform to influence global standards in cement production,” says Mohammed Laid HOGGUI, CEO of Spa Biskria Ciment.
