The hotel industry in Kenya will receive a boost after construction of five new medium-sized hotels. The hotels will be constructed in Nairobi, with construction works expected begin this year. This will increase the number of hotel rooms in the city by 704.

According to a report released by W Hospitality Group, a new Tribe hotel will be constructed in Village Market. Radisson Hotel is setting up a new hotel in Upper Hill, and Ole Sereni is building a new hotel near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Dusit International Company is also constructing a new hotel, and finally, the Popat family is also erecting a hotel in Westlands.

The new hotels will accommodate both local and international visitors. With over 6,164 rooms, Nigeria has been ranked as the country with the highest number of hotel rooms in Africa.

Despite the hotel industry in Kenya experiencing challenges, the Government and key stakeholders are moving to ensure the growth of Kenya’s hospitality industry.
