PPC Zimbabwe hosted his Excellency President E.D. Mnangagwa, Hon Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr, Sekai Nzenza, and delegates for a presidential tour of the Harare main factory yesterday. The tour was PPC Zimbabwe’s way of highlighting the investment the company has made and their commitment to Zimbabwe.
The Harare factory boasts top of the range equipment and facilities and has helped extend PPC Zimbabwe’s capacity to 1.4m tonnes of Cement a year. The factory incorporates bulk-handling and palletising technology which can pack 40 cement bags per minute.
In his remarks, his Excellency, President Mnangagwa said that PPC has been in Zimbabwe for over a century, and is an example of the positive contributions made by our corporate citizens. He also went on to say, “Our Corporate partners such as PPC Zimbabwe have always stepped up to make the job of government easier during difficult times for example when Cyclone Idai struck in 2019, causing catastrophic damage and leaving a humanitarian crisis in its wake, they were amongst the corporate citizens who came forward to help. I personally handed over 1 800 bags of SURECEM cement, donated by PPC, to the Cyclone Idai Victims Housing Unit. This translated to 90 tonnes of cement. “
Investment, innovation and quality products
The Managing Director of PPC Zimbabwe Kelibone Masiyane, thanked the President and Minister of Industry and Commerce for coming to tour the facilities. He spoke about the company’s investment, innovation and quality products. Masiyane also spoke about one of the company’s signature product ranges. “We are proud to have successfully launched the PPC SURERANGE of products which carries 6 distinct types of cement each with its unique qualities and range of uses. Within this range, we are the only manufacturers of Surecast 42.5R and Suretech 52.5 CEM. These products are of a high standard and quality, and proudly Zimbabwean.”
Dr Sekai Nzenza the Minister of Industry and Commerce said, “We applaud you for your adherence to high standards and focus on community development. Your dedication to producing premium quality cement, your achievement of ISO certification, environmentally-friendly manufacturing and trading processes, has made PPC an industrial trailblazer. “
Dr Nzenza also affirmed her Ministry’s commitment to supporting investment, innovation and capacity building to help grow the country.
Essential partner in reaching Vision 2030 goals
Todd Moyo, Chairman of the PPC Zimbabwe Board spoke about the companies history in Zimbabwe and said that they are proud of the company’s 107-year history in Zimbabwe, happily commit to another 100 years and beyond.
The President also took the occasion to remind the audience about the Government’s commitment to achieve the Vision 2030 goals and was joined by various Government officials, and PPC Zimbabwe partners and stakeholders for the tour.
