Cement company sales
consultant, Stefan Bossert says, “We want to empower guys in informal
settlements to make quality bricks using quality materials because the lower
the quality of the bricks, the weaker the bricks, which lowers the quality of
the structures built.”
Gavin Gouws, the area
manager and local enterprise development, says the workshops are to help create
employment in the township.
“It is important to
have these workshops because it skills the people present who will then go
forward to train others and employ them to make bricks.
MD of the company in
South Africa, Njombo Lekula, says, “The key purpose of these workshops is to
impart knowledge and expertise to these business people and to ensure that they
get the best value out of our product and, in turn they can produce the best
100 per cent Mzansi quality bricks and blocks for their customers.”
Angel Mdluli, the
owner of Avanasaso Hardware, says she is excited the company chose to host the
workshop at her brickyard.
“I am very happy they came here because the lives of the people present will change tremendously if they apply the skills they learn here” she says.https://africanreporter.co.za/111769/ppc-cement-empowers-tsakane-brick-makers/
