Kwikspace supplies 100 classrooms across KwaZulu-Natal

05 August 2021

Kwikspace has begun the delivery of 100 classrooms across the ILembe District Municipality to accommodate the increasing number of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) students.

The COEGA Development Corporation (CDC) awarded the framework tender to Kwikspace in August 2020, following the Education Department’s (KZN) recognition of the lack of essential facilities.

All classrooms are supplied with lighting, electrical plug points, blackboards and pin boards. Walls are constructed of high-quality 40-mm polyurethane-filled steel clad panels, increasing learner safety.

Providing excellent thermal properties, to keep students warm during cold days and cool during hotter days, classroom panel structures are also resistant to moisture and ingress of dust and insects. The units are also easy to clean and sanitise, an important safety feature during the pandemic, making the prefabricated units an ideal solution for classrooms.

“It is always wonderful to experience the joy and delight of teachers and learners upon delivery of our solutions. The teachers are grateful for the high-quality of our units, and the learners get very excited about their new classroom environment,” enthuses David Francis, Regional Manager of KZN.

“Having already met CDC’s requirements and deadlines for the previous three phases of the project, the client was aware of our abilities, making us a good match to serve these schools,” Francis concludes.

Schools receiving these classrooms are located across ILembe, in Kwamashu, Umvoti, Imati, Balcombs Hill, Ndedwe, Ginginglovu, Mdloti, Mandeni, Phambela, Ubhaqu, Kwadakuza and Umhlali.
