Large-format
tiling requires a high degree of skill on the part of installers in order to
avoid costly mistakes for contractors wanting to capitalise on the growing
popularity of this distinctive and attractive type of flooring.
Growing
demand for large format tiling has led construction material manufacturer,
Mapei, to host a first-of-its-kind large-format tiling seminar with local and
overseas experts to upskill installers and showcase modern products that
improve the quality of installations and dramatically speed-up work on site.
Mapei
GM, Antony Offenberg, says Mapei strives to equip and empower its customers
with the latest knowledge and trends in the industries it supplies. “We will be
showcasing the latest trends and tools used in large format installations, as
well as hosting unique hands-on application demonstrations. Simultaneously, we
will be hosting CPD presentations in our auditorium on waterproofing and
ceramics, each accredited with 0,5 credits.
“This
is a first in the country and we are looking at establishing a platform and
vehicle which brings all the expertise and knowledge from our overseas parent
company to our doorstep for sharing into the local market.
“It
is an opportunity to interact and engage as an industry to improve and upskill
the local market. By getting not only the international experts with their
knowledge, as well as leading suppliers into the industry together, we create a
vehicle for knowledge sharing and discussions. We also provide an
opportunity for architects to explore and learn more about this vibrant and
constantly changing industry.
“There
are several advantages of attending, namely the practical demonstrations of
actual applications, the introduction to the tools and tech to the market, as
well as exposure to leading local exhibitors with their offerings on display.
Obviously, the drawcard of having international speakers and exhibitors with
their knowledge and insight is also a major drawcard and for those attending
the technical sessions there will be one full credit for the day’s activities,”
says Antony.
The
seminar is aimed at architects, engineers and applicators, among others, and
will highlight techniques and best practices as well as showcasing Mapei’s
modern range of ceramics, adhesives and waterproofing products. Companies
supplying the trade have also been given the opportunity to show their ranges
of tiles and tools to visitors.
The
event will be held on 15-16 May 2019 at Mapei’s state-of-the-art training
centre at its head office in Germiston with additional space for demonstrations
and displays in an external marquee.
